Youth Ski Team News
The youth (grades 6-12) ski team is looking forward to an exciting 2009/2010 season. Lights going up on the Brown trail will make organizing practices at Greenbush during the week much safer and easier for skiers and parents. This year there will be two organizational meetings for parents and skiers. The dates and locations are:
Monday, November 9 at Plymouth High School Room B113 at 5:00 PM and
Tuesday, November 10 at Sheboygan South High School Room 172. With the growth of the teams it is critical that parents attend one of these meeting or contact Brian or Tina Henriksen at (920) 892-7400 if unable to attend.
Goals for the upcoming year are to field both high school and middle school teams and compete at the state meet in Wausau in February. At this point there a good number of girls that plan on skiing, but we are lacking boys. New this year is that all skiers will pay a fee of $50 to join the team and $150 if they are going to use the club equipment. Skiers will then have all of their races paid for by the team. We again will offer varsity letters to skiers who earn them, if the child’s school allows.
Practices will start Monday, November 30th we will start with two practices per week. Initially, practices will be Monday and Wednesday nights. This may be adjusted to fit skier schedules, we will adjust to accommodate the greatest number of skiers. Practice frequency will be moved up to three times during the week and once on weekends, depending on snow conditions.
If you know of any youth or families who may be interested in Nordic skiing, please forward them this information.
